These Scots and their ancestors went on to play important roles in the forging of the great nations of the United States and Canada. Among them: William Whistons settled in Virginia in 1670; Nathanial, James, and Charles Whiston, all settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania between 1820 and 1874.
