Migration of the Genner family to the New World and Oceana
The New World beckoned settlers from the Scottish-English borders. They sailed aboard the armada of sailing ships known as the "White Sails" which plied the stormy Atlantic. Some called them, less romantically, the "coffin ships." Among the early settlers bearing the Genner surname who came to North America were: Thomas Jenner, who settled in New
England in 1636; William Junior, who came to Virginia in 1641; Charles Jenner, who immigrated to Virginia in 1764; George Charles Jenner, who arrived in Maryland in 1794.
