An inquiry into the early roots of North American families has revealed a number of immigrants bearing the name Wouldfing or a variant listed above: William Woodfine, with his wife Elizabeth and son William, who settled in Barbados in 1679. In Newfoundland, Richard settled in St. John's in 1783; Richard settled in Devil's Cove in 1821.
