Bugdon is a name that came to England in the 11th century wave of migration that was set off by the Norman Conquest of 1066. The Bugdon family lived in Huntingdon. The Bugdon line was descended from the Norman French name Bogin, a local name in Calvados in Normandy.

William de Buggenden, was listed in the Pipe Rolls of Lincolnshire in 1195; and Claricia de Buggeden was listed in the Sussex Rolls in 1219.
