The name Broughon was first used by the ancient Strathclyde-Briton people of the Scottish/English Borderlands. The first Broughon family lived in Galloway in the southwest of Scotland. The Rhiged lived in what later became the northern English counties of Cumberland, Westmorland, and Lancashire.
