The surname Stubble was first found in Essex where the Feet of Fine listed: William de Stublegh for 1239-1240; William de Stubleye in 1313 and later, John Stubliegh in 1385. [1]

Richard Stubbe was a Knights Templar in 1185 in Yorkshire and William Stob was listed in the Subsidy Rolls for Sussex in 1332. Geoffrey de Stubbes was found in the Pipe Rolls for Norfolk in 1199, Robert del Stobbes was found in the Assize Rolls for Cheshire in 1288 and Thomas de la Stubbe was found in the Sybsidy Rolls for Sussex in 1296.
