What does the name Rodric mean?

The Rodric surname is derived from the Welsh personal name Rhydderch. The name also came to Britain with the Normans, usually in the form Rodrick. The name means "famous ruler", and appears in Old German as Hrodric. Saint Roderick (d. 857) is venerated as one of the Martyrs of Córdoba.
