Early Origins of the Mugly family

The surname Mugly was first found in Dorset and Somerset where Geoffrey Mugge was listed in the Pipe Rolls of 1212. Years later in Suffolk, Henry Mug was listed as holding estates in Suffolk according to the Hundredorum Rolls of 1275. The Subsidy Rolls of Worcestershire include an entry for William Mugge in 1332. Much later, John Mugg and Robert Mudge were recorded in 1642 in Devon. 1

William de Mugge was the Archdeacon of Barnstaple during 1358.
