The surname Mabbotson was first found in Yorkshire where they held a family seat as Lords of the Manor The Saxon influence of English history diminished after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Early immigrants bearing the Mabbotson surname or a spelling variation of the name include: Jane Mabbett settled in Virginia in 1657 probably with husband John spelled Mabett, same year; Gideon Mabbett settled Mississippi in 1854.
