The current generations of the Kelts family have inherited a surname that was first used hundreds of years ago by descendants of the ancient Scottish tribe called the Picts. The Kelts family lived in the lands of Keltie, which were found near Callander in the county of Perth.

These hardy settlers gave their strength and perseverance to the young nations that would become the United States and Canada. Immigration and passenger lists have shown many early immigrants bearing the name Kelts: B. Kelty who settled in Boston Massachusetts with eleven children in 1822; John and Thomas M'Coller Kelty settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1820.
