The surname Jefcok was first found in Worcestershire where Geoffrey Geffcoke was registered in the Subsidy Rolls of 1327. A few years later, William Gefcok was found in the Subsidy Rolls for Staffordshire in 1332 and again, in Staffordshire, Emota Jeffecockes was registered there in the Subsidy Rolls for 1380. [2]

Once in the colonies, many of the families did indeed prosper and, in turn, made significant contributions to the culture and economies of the growing colonies. An inquiry into the early roots of North American families has revealed a number of immigrants bearing the name Jefcok or a variant listed above: Henry Jeffcoat and his wife Rebecca and three children arrived in New York in 1820; E. Jefcott arrived in New York in 1852.
