Dubree History, Family Crest & Coats of Arms

Early Origins of the Dubree family

The surname Dubree was first found in Lorraine where this distinguished family held a family seat, and the main stem of this aristocratic family were elevated to the nobility on the 4th July 1622. They became the Marquis de Brie.

In Champagne they held a family seat in Camprond and intermarried with the distinguished family of Sablonnière. They branched westward into Brittany where they were elevated to the nobility as the Barons de Retz. From this point they moved south to Anjou and held a family seat at Serrant. They also branched to Limousin where they held estates. The family also established a house in Bourgogne at Brochardiere.

Jean LaBrie, son of Louis and Jeanne, travelled from France to Canada in the 17th century. After arriving in Quebec he married Marie-Xainte Boucher, daughter of Pierre and Marie, at Château-Richer on 7th November 1689. [1]CITATION[CLOSE]
