The surname Brohale was first found in County Waterford (Irish: Port Láirge), anciently the Deise region, on the South coast of Ireland in the Province of Munster, where Robert Brohale was a juror in 1312. However, the name was prevalent not much later in east Leinster, where there are records of Philip Brohale, a resident of County Carlow in 1356, John Broghall, a resident of Moone, County Kildare in 1402, and John Brohale, an assessor for the barony of Narragh, County Kildare in 1420. On the English side, Broughall is a small village in Shropshire, England.
