What does the name Boggel mean?

The place name, from which the Boggel family take their surname arrived in Scotland with the Viking settlers. The first to use Boggel as a name no doubt lived at Bowgyhill, in Monkland, in Lanarkshire. One reference lists the name as a nickname, but this is highly unlikely.
