The surname Blackeller was first found in Devon where they held a family seat from ancient times being Lords of the Manor and seated at Denbury in that shire, some say at the time of the Norman Conquest in 1066 A.D. Denbury, originally Deveneberrie in pre Conquest days, was held by Tavistock Church at the time of the taking of the Domesday Book survey in the year 1086 A.D. It now consists of a 17th century manor house.
