McQueen History, Family Crest & Coats of Arms 

Numerous Scottish settlers settled along the east coast of the colonies that would become the United States and Canada. Others traveled to the open country of the west. At the time of the American War of Independence, some remained in the United States, while those who remained loyal to the crown went north to Canada as United Empire Loyalists. The highland games and Clan societies that sprang up across North America in the 20th century have helped many Scots to recover parts of their lost traditions. Research into passenger and immigration lists has revealed some of the very first McQueens to arrive in North America:

• Archibald McQueen, aged 21, a labourer, who arrived in Wellington, New Zealand aboard the ship "Blenheim" in 1840

• Alexander McQueen CBE (1969-2010), born Lee Alexander McQueen, British fashion designer and couturier, recipient of the British Designer of the Year awards (1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003)
• Sherrilyn Woodward McQueen (b. 1965), born in Columbus, Georgia she is also known as Sherrilyn Kenyon, an American bestselling writer, known for the Dark Hunter Series as well as paranormal historical romance novels
• Justus Ellis McQueen Jr. (1927-2022), known professionally as L.Q. Jones, an American actor and director, known for his roles in Ride the High Country (1962), Major Dundee (1965), The Wild Bunch (1969), The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970), and Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1973)
• Armelia Audrey McQueen (1952-2020), American actress, best known for her roles in the Broadway musical Ain't Misbehavin' (1978–1982, 1988–1989)
• Joe McQueen (1919-2019), American jazz saxophonist who lived to be 100 years old
• Butterfly McQueen (1911-1995), American actress whose first role was the part of Prissy, Scarlett O'Hara's maid in the 1939 film Gone with the Wind
• Terrence Steven "Steve" McQueen (1930-1980), Academy Award-nominated American movie actor, nicknamed "The King of Cool"
• John McQueen (1804-1867), American politician and a member of the Confederate States Congress during the American Civil War
• Gordon McQueen (1952-2023), Scottish professional footballer who played as a centre-back for St Mirren, Leeds United and Manchester United and the Scotland national team
• Tommy McQueen (b. 1963), former Scottish football defender

• Mr. William McQueen (b. 1905), British Ordinary Seaman, who sailed into battle on the HMS Repulse (1941) and died in the sinking 10

Monongah Mine
