He was present at Westminster Hall on 27 Jan. 1648 when sentence was pronounced, and signed the death-warrant on 29 Jan. He died...

Although the passage was expensive and the ships were dark, crowded, and unsafe, those who made the voyage safely were rewarded with opportunities unavailable to them in their homeland. Research into passenger and immigration lists has revealed some of the very first Stapylays to arrive in North America: Stephen Stapley settled in Norfolk Virginia in 1823.
