The family were well established in the region of Calvados and several members of the family distinguished themselves through their contributions toward the community in which they lived and were rewarded with lands, titles and letters patent confirming their nobility. They were shown as nobility of the Norman by the Duchesne rolls during the Conquest. William Rundel of Oxfordshire after Hastings had several domains held to 1150 and also held in Normandy.

  • Pierre Rondot (b. 1904), French Brigadier General, a writer and a journalist, born in Versailles. He was an active officer from 1939 to 1940, the director of studies, then director of the Centre of High Muslim administrative studies which became the Centre of High studies of modern Africa and Asia (1955-1967). He then became professor of the ENA, of the IEP in Grenoble, in Lyon, in Paris, and became the commander of the Legion of honour with a military title, and received the war cross
