Early Origins of the Renfrow family

The surname Renfrow was first found in county of Edenburk, where they held a family seat. After the Norman Conquest of England many of Duke William's rebellious Barons moved north and the borders became a convenient but turbulent no-man's land. Many were given land by King Malcolm Canmore and later by King David of Scotland. The name was first recorded in Scotland in 1296 when Adam DeReynfru of the county of Edenburk rendered homage to King Edward 1st of England in 1296 during the latter's brief conquest of Scotland.
