The surname Dusburey was first found in Lancashire at Duxbury, a township, in the district chapelry of Adlington, parish of Standish, union of Chorley, hundred of Leyland. "Duxbury gave name at an early period to a family, of whom Adam, in the reign of Edward I., held a moiety of the town.'" 1 A later branch of the family was found in the township of Gransmoor in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Families left for the New World in extremely large numbers. The long journey was the end of many immigrants and many more arrived sick and starving. Still, those who made it were rewarded with an opportunity far greater than they had known at home in England.
