Many of these families became important contributors to the young colonies in which they settled. Early immigration and passenger lists have documented some of the first Brouneswerts to arrive on North American shores: William Brownsword, a bonded passenger sent to America in 1700; John Brownsword, who was on record in Pennsylvania in 1755.
