The surname Trupp was first found in at the manor of Troup, a parish in Banffshire (Gaelic: Siorrachd Bhanbh), former Scottish county located in the northeasterly Grampian region of Scotland, now of divided between the Council Areas of Moray and Aberdeenshire, where they held the lands from very early times. One record shows that Troup of that Ilk ended in an heiress who married a son of Keith, Earl Marischall (Marshall).
