One of the earliest records of the family was John Sokol of Lamberg (c. 1355-1410), a Moravian military leader who was involved in the internal disputes of members of the Luxembourg dynasty and from his participation of the Battle of Grunwald in 1410. He inherited Lamberk Castle.
