Many of those families went on to make significant contributions to the rapidly developing colonies in which they settled. Early North American records indicate many people bearing the name Morbey were among those contributors: Stephen Morby, who settled in Maryland in 1669; Richard Moorby, who came to Virginia in 1724; Samuel Moorby, who was on record in the census of Ontario, Canada in 1871.
