The lineage of the name Izoomb begins with the Anglo-Saxon tribes in Britain. It is a result of when they lived in the parish of Isham in the county of Northampton near Kettering.

Early Origins of the Izoomb family

The surname Izoomb was first found in Northamptonshire at Isham, a Saxon village and civil parish that dates back to 974 when it was listed as Ysham. By the Domesday Book of 1086, the place name had evolved to the present spelling of Isham. [1]CITATION[CLOSE]

Migration of the Izoomb family to the New World and Oceana

To escape the unstable social climate in England of this time, many families boarded ships for the New World with the hope of finding land, opportunity, and greater religious and political freedom. Although the voyages were expensive, crowded, and difficult, those families that arrived often found greater opportunities and freedoms than they could have experienced at home. Many of those families went on to make significant contributions to the rapidly developing colonies in which they settled. Early North American records indicate many people bearing the name Izoomb were among those contributors: Henry Isham, who was on record in Virginia in 1626; Robert Isham, who came to Virginia in 1635, at age 14; Dan and Roger Isham, who both arrived in Virginia in 1629.
