Germany Early Origins of the Imhof familyThe surname Imhof was first found in Basel, where the name Imhof made a great early contribution to the feudal society of early Europe. The name Imhof became prominent in local affairs and branched into many houses. The Imhoff, Imhof or Im Hof family was a noble patrician family that belonged to the wealthy trading dynasties and ruling oligarchy in the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg during its Golden Age in the Renaissance.
