Early Origins of the Hildershaw familyThe surname Hildershaw was first found in Cambridgeshire at Hildersham, a small village 8 miles south-east of Cambridge. Historically a parish, in the union of Linton, hundred of Chilford, this place formerly belonged to the De Veres, earls of Oxford, who were lords of the manor. Migration of the Hildershaw familyTo escape oppression and starvation at that time, many English families left for the "open frontiers" of the New World with all its perceived opportunities.
