The surname Fedigan was first found in the Clones area of County Monaghan (Irish: Muineachán) located in the Northern part of the Republic of Ireland in the province of Ulster, where the place names Tiredigan and Ballyviddegan indicate their settlements. In 1425, Neyll O'Fedegan was charged, among others, with abducting the chaplain of Nobber and was threatened with excommunication by the bishop of Clogher.
