Cookram Early Origins

The surname Cookram was first found in Lancashire at Cockerham, a small village and civil parish within the City of Lancaster. It lies in the unions of Garstang and Lancaster, partly in the hundred of Amounderness, but chiefly in the hundred of Lonsdale south and dates back to the Domesday Book of 1086 where it was listed as Cocreham. The place name literally means "homestead or enclosure on the River Cocker" having derived from the Celtic river-name + ham. [1]CITATION[CLOSE]
