Many English families tired of political and religious strife left Britain for the new colonies in North Ameri ca. An inquiry into the early roots of North American families has revealed a number of immigrants bearing the name Billesdan or a variant listed above: John Bilson who settled in Virginia in 1654; Stafford Bilson settled in Virginia in 1653; William Bilson settled in New England in 1752; Henry Billson settled in Philadelphia in 1868..
