The family is thought to have originated "from a lost Timberlake in Bayton, Worcestershire. 1 Another source disagrees and believe the family may be from "Timperley (?); a location name in Cheshire." 2 And another source notes that name could be "from Timber-leg, a wounded soldier with a wooden leg." 3
