He was a tenant in chief in Surrey, giving name to Stoke Daubernon. 1 Conjecturally, the surname is descended from the tenant of the lands of Guildford and East Mosely, held by Roger de Abernon or Arburnam of Abenon in Calvados, the Norman Baron.
