The family were well established in the region of Dijonnais and several members of the family distinguished themselves through their contributions toward the community in which they lived and were rewarded with lands, titles and letters patent confirming their nobility.

The Château de Chaumont is a castle in Chaumont-sur-Loire, Loir-et-Cher, France. Founded in the 10th century by Odo I, Count of Blois, it was ordered destroyed by Louis XI, but was rebuilt by Charles I d'Amboise. The castle has been classified as a Monument historique since 1840 by the French Ministry of Culture and survives today as an beautiful and imposing chateau above the River Loire.
