The surname Warmouth was first found in Sunderland, a port city in Tyne and Wear, England. This is home to Bishopwearmouth, Monkwearmouth, Monkwearmouth-Jarrow Abbey, Wearmouth Bridge and Wearmouth Colliery. Bishopwearmouth (on the south side of the River Wear, settled in 930), Monkwearmouth (on the north side of the River Wear, settled in 674) were two of the original three settlements on the banks of the River Wear that merged to form modern Sunderland.
