Stuhr Early Origins

The surname Stuhr was first found in Belgium, where the name became noted for its many branches in the region, each house acquiring a status and influence which was envied by the princes of the region. The name was first recorded in Antwerp, (Anvers.Fr) a fortified city in the province of Antwerp. It is Belgium's commercial center. In the 11th century Godfrey of Bouillon was Marquis of Antwerp.
