Some of the first settlers of this family name or some of its variants were: Ana Sierra, who settled in Guatemala in 1568; Baltasar Sierra, who came to West Indies in 1517; Diego Sierra, who came to Peru in 1582; and Antonio De Sierra, his wife and two children, who settled in New Spain in 1569. In later years, immigrants to North American included Carlos Sierra, who settled in New Orleans in 1829.
