Sanctos Early Origins



The surname Sanctos was first found in at Ortona, a seaport of Abruzzi in the province of Chieti, in the Italian region of Abruzzo. Built on the ancient site of Ortona, a trading port of the Frentani. A funicular railway connects to the promontory on which there is ruined castle with magnificent views The cathedral built in 1127 has works by Nicolo Mancini. In those ancient times only persons of rank, the podesta, clergy, city officials, army officers, artists, landowners were entered into the records. To be recorded at this time, at the beginning of recorded history, was of itself a great distinction and indicative of noble ancestry.
