Ogover Early Origins

The surname Ogover was first found in Staffordshire where "this venerable and knightly family are lineal descendants of Ormus, who at the period of the Norman Conquest was lord of Okeover by grant of Nigel, abbot of Burton. During the long period of almost eight hundred years, they flourished uninterruptedly upon that estate." [1]CITATION[CLOSE]

"The manor [of Atlow] once belonged to Henry de Ferrars, and was held under him or his immediate heirs by the ancestor of the ancient family of Okeover." [3]CITATION[CLOSE]
