The surname Oggover was first found in Staffordshire where "this venerable and knightly family are lineal descendants of Ormus, who at the period of the Norman Conquest was lord of Okeover by grant of Nigel, abbot of Burton. Okeover Hall is a privately owned country house held by the family since the reign of William Rufus (1087-1100.) Another branch of the family was found at Atlow in Derbyshire.
