This name can also be anglicized as MacMichael, and thus MacMichael is related to McMeel. For example, in the County Monaghan Hearth Money Rolls, one Phelim MacIlmeel is recorded in 1663. However, in 1665, the same man is recorded as Phelim MacIlmichele.
