The surname Lolli was first found in Ferrara, a city and comune in Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy, capital city of the Province of Ferrara. History dates the city back to 753 where bearers of the name were established from very early times. The Lolli family of Ferrara broke into two branches, one held the county of Prazzo, the other became the "signoria" or "lords" of Boccaleone.
