Migration of the Hoppy family
Some of the first settlers of this family name or some of its variants were: Andries Hoppe, who immigrated to New York with his wife Geertje Hendricks and his daughter Catrina in 1653; Caspar Hoppe, a mercenary from Braunschweig who settled in America after being sent to fight in the Revolutionary War, Ludwig Joseph Hoppe, who arrived in Jamaica in 1835 with his wife Elis Osterhold, Andreas Hoppe, who emigrated from Braunschweig to New Orleans in 1852.
