The current generations of the Evyott family have inherited a surname that was first used hundreds of years ago by descendants of the ancient Scottish tribe called the Picts. The Evyott family lived on the lands of Eviot in Angus where the family has a long and distinguished history dating back to the early Middle Ages.

The surname Evyott was first found in Perthshire (Gaelic: Siorrachd Pheairt) former county in the present day Council Area of Perth and Kinross, located in central Scotland, where they held a family seat from very ancient times, some say well before the Norman Conquest and the arrival of Duke William at Hastings in 1066 A.D.

Those who arrived safely found land, freedom, and opportunity for the taking. These hardy settlers gave their strength and perseverance to the young nations that would become the United States and Canada.
