The surname Willgross was first found in Nottinghamshire where Gilbert Wildgris was found in Danelaw documents pertaining to the reign of Henry II. In Norfolk, we found William Wyldgryce in 1511. The name literally means "wild pig" from the Old Norse word "griss," 1 and probably referred to one with a somewhat fierce appearance or perhaps one quick and decisive in action.
