If you think naming a single child is a lot of work imagine what a writer for a soap opera goes through. Soap operas are famous for the turn around in characters: people disappearing, new people appearing, and old characters reappearing with new identities, waiting for the big surprise halfway in the season. Soap Operas are, therefore, a great source for children's names not only because the constant flux of characters exposes a viewer to a variety of names.
The names of soap stars are also carefully designed to be popular and catchy so that a viewer will remember the character. Although this can lead to overly dramatic names, often characters have names that tailored for a specific personality, and old-fashioned names, or newly created names that appear old-fashioned, are unexpectedly used, breathing life into those names.
