Some of the first settlers of this family name or some of its variants were: Anna Dorothea Wedemeyer, who arrived in Baltimore, Maryland with her child in 1832; Adolf Wedemeyer settled in Texas in 1844; Wilhelm Wedemeyer came with his wife, Christina Krueger, and their five children to Texas in 1845.
