Research into passenger and immigration lists has revealed some of the very first Smalwodes to arrive in North America: Randall Smallwood, who settled in Virginia in 1623; Samwell and Martha Smallwood settled in Maryland in 1699; Randolph Smallwood settled at the Delaware River in 1685.
