The lineage of the name Salfeart begins with the Anglo-Saxon tribes in Britain. It is a result of when they lived at the estate of Salford which had three early locations in England including Lancashire, Oxford and Bedfordshire.

Salfeart Early Origins

The surname Salfeart was first found in Bedfordshire in the parish of Salford. "This place, which lies on the borders of Buckinghamshire, was formerly the property of a family who took their name from it, and was afterwards possessed by the Drakelows, and the Charnocks, from whom it passed by marriage to the Herveys." The Great Migration

To escape the unstable social climate in England of this time, many families boarded ships for the New World with the hope of finding land, opportunity, and greater religious and political freedom. Although the voyages were expensive, crowded, and difficult, those families that arrived often found greater opportunities and freedoms than they could have experienced at home. Many of those families went on to make significant contributions to the rapidly developing colonies in which they settled. Early North American records indicate many people bearing the name Salfeart were among those contributors: John, Robert and Mary Salford who settled in Virginia in 1611; nine years before the "Mayflower"; John and Sarah Salford settled in Virginia in 1623.
