Peshwitz Early Origins

The name was originally spelled Petzschwitz, Petschwitz or Peschwitz. The first recorded member of this family was Marquand von Beschwitz who lived in the early 13th century. In later years the name branched into many houses, each playing a significant role in the local social and political affairs.
