A thorough examination of passenger and immigration lists has disclosed evidence of many early immigrants of the name O'Hughey: James Hoey who settled in Charles Town [Charleston], South Carolina in 1772; followed by William Hoey in 1803; Charles, Dennis, John, Michael, Thomas and William Hoey, all settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania between 1840 and 1877.
